Alexander Wagendristel - Composer / Arrangements Vienna Horns

Born 1965 in Vienna. Studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna: flute with Professor Werner Tripp, composition with Professor Friedrich Neumann, Heinrich Gattermeyer and Erich Urbanner. He finished both disciplines with distinction. Since 1987 member of the Vereinigte Bühnen Orchestra, was member of the Improvisation Band “Things of NowNow”, was Co-founder of the Ensemble Reconsil Wien, which is devoted to Neue Musik. Has won prizes at national as well as international composition competitions, has received sponsorship awards and a state scholarship for composers.
His compositions are played both in Austria and abroad, occasionally at festivals such as Wien Modern and Steirischer Herbst. In 1995 his first opera “The Fool” was staged at the Theater of the Schönbrunn Castle with great success. The 1999 his cantata “A house that tries to be haunted” was successfully performed for the first time at the Vienna Musikverein. In 2001 his piano concerto “TYPHON” won a prize at a composition competition in Vienna.
